When to Use and Not to Use Statement Necklaces

Those who are in the know in the fashion industry are well aware of how statement necklaces are making a huge splash.  A lot of well-known fashion brands have used this accessory to bling up their models on the runway, as well as make their necklace display windows in their own shops sparkle and shine.  This is why you see a lot of necklace display sections brandishing statement necklaces in different colors, designs and sizes.

Of course, it also help a lot that so many celebrities are wearing statement necklaces nowadays, so much so that many fashion magazine and gossip rags are plagued with pictures of Hollywood A-listers  donning these sparkling things around their necks. And when paparazzi photos of “It” girls parading with their necklaces get splashed in all the spreadsheets and glossies, fans all over the world would surely flock to any store selling these pieces so that they can have that, too!

Statement Necklace

However, statement necklaces are not particularly pieces that can be worn all the time.  If you want to be look sophisticated and elegant, then wearing these pieces is not particularly the best fashion decision to make. These are the instances where you can get away with wearing statement jewelry, as well as some tips on when to take them out of your necklace or earring display case and wear them yourself:
  • Casual events like going out for grocery shopping or running some errands can be good opportunities to wear statement jewelry. You can dress up your otherwise plain outfit with a statement necklace.
  •  Wear statement pieces with plain colors. Clothes that have exaggerated patterns and would overpower the statement that your statement jewelry pieces would make. Your pieces would drown as part of your entire getup.
  • Wearing it with a simple dress. A simple dress + attention grabbing statement jewelry = a very put-together outfit.
However, here are some instances that should refrain us from wearing statement pieces and leave them in our earring and necklace display. It would make one look like things are not going well because of the contrasting pieces.

  • Formal events and statement jewelry are a huge no-no. It is best to refrain from wearing those chunky pieces especially when it is made of materials other than precious metals and stones.
  • Clothes with crazy and loud prints are best matched with simple jewelry, not statement pieces. Matching clothes with loud prints and statement jewelry will get you some attention, but definitely not the good kind.
  • Layering it with other big jewelry pieces. There is the case of bling, and it’s another story if there is too much bling. Too many big jewelry pieces piled up against each other will only make a person look.
Looking classy is easy to achieve.  It is best to go for a simple look as the quiet elegance will make heads turn. You can check out necklace display pieces to give you an idea on what would work best for you and your wardrobe.
