The Risks of Not Using a Sunglasses Case

Really people, why do you think your new pair of sunglasses comes with a case?

Because they serve a purpose, and I don’t mean just having a place to store your newly-purchased sunglasses until you reach home. While the purchase price doesn’t always cover a sunglasses case, they can also be bought separately. There are many designs to choose from, and the case can be a fashion statement in itself.

How important using a sunglasses case is really depends on your level of thinking. If you’re dense enough to think it is not that crucial because you don’t have the habit of sitting on things, then more power to you. But seriously, I’m sure you are aware that sunglasses aren’t mere fashion accessories. They protect our eyes from airborne particles, and of course, the sun’s UV rays.

This is why it is important to have a case. It protects your sunglasses from scratches, breakage, nasty smudge of oil, spills, and other things. At home, for example, kids like checking things out, and if your pair of sunglasses is out in the open and within reach, be prepared for some curiosity. Kids will try them on. Really, chances are you can still remember a time when you yourself tried your grandfather’s glasses on and marveled at how it alters your vision. Hats off if you didn’t drop it.

When not in use, you may want to put your pair of sunglasses inside its case. Some of you may not notice, but a simple scratch can actually affect light reflection. Remember, this is an important thing you are trying to protect, not to mention, it is hard-earned money. You may not have enough moolah for another trip to the wholesale sunglasses section of the department store. Even if you do, that would be money wasted, knowing that you could have taken care of your sunglasses the sensible way. It is covered by a one-year warranty, you say. Well you need receipt for that, and news flash: just like most people, keeping the receipts was never your habit.

There are different types of sunglasses case: soft, semi-soft, pocket-style, and hard case. Among the four, the hard case is most advisable especially when you place it in a softer bag. Even if you drop it or sit on it, you can be sure that your pair of sunglasses is safe inside. Just be sure it fits inside properly. A case that’s too large will have your sunglasses moving constantly, so it can still get damaged. On the other hand, if it’s too small, closing the case will get your sunglasses smashed. Before putting your sunglasses inside, though, be sure to wrap it with a soft cloth first.

Sunglasses protect your eyes. How about we protect it for our own sake. Spending a little on a case will go a long way.
