Ways of Securing Your Jewelry Store

Investing on the security of your jewelry store is like protecting your hard earned money and properties. A secured store discourages thieves thus giving the customers the peace of mind they need when they are shopping. With just the right practices plus security equipment, you can be sure that your business is safe as much as possible.

There are plenty of security equipment that can make your store safe from thief and other crimes. This equipment may help you in keeping an inventory of your wholesale jewelry and will minimize the tendency of theft and product loss.

Installing a CCTV Camera in different locations inside your store may significantly reduce the probability of robbers entering your store. Aside from that it can also make it easier to create a report in case a crime is committed.

Buying a quality display case can also be a big factor as much as security is concerned. If you are selling high end jewelry, make sure that your display case is sturdy and won’t break easily. As much as possible, choose a display case that is built in such a way that doesn’t permit someone to crawl under them.  Choose a necklace display case that has quality lock for more safety.

It is also important to train your employees on the basic security measures to ensure their safety. Make them more responsible by educating them on the proper handling of customers and what to do when they start feeling that something is not right.

Here are some of the things that you or your employees should do to keep your store safe and secure:

  1. Inspect showcases several times a day and look out for cracks and tampering.
  2. Keep showcases locked when unattended and always keep the keys in safe place.
  3. Never leave your keys on counter tops or anywhere that it can be easily accessed by unauthorized person.
  4. Split jewelry with higher value in different display cases instead of putting them all together in one place.
  5. Make an eye contact with every customer that is entering your store. Having a store greeter who will talk to each customer as they enter your jewelry store will make guest feel that the store employees are aware of his or her presence.
  6. When the customer is asking to try on some jewelry pieces, let them pick their choice and show them one item at a time.
  7. When transacting business with salespeople or delivery men always ask for proper identification and do not entertain them when they come up to your store without verified meeting or delivery schedule.
  8. Establish an “alert system” or a code word to alert the other employees of suspicious situations.
Practicing these simple steps is better than having regrets when a crime is already committed. Keep your store secured and have the peace of mind that your investment is safe at all times.
